FALL 2009 SEASON IS ON THE WAY!!
VOLUNTEERS ARE THE FOUNDATION OF KILLEN AYSO SOCCER LEAGUE!!
There are no paid members in the AYSO soccer family. Every league official you see (registration personnel, board members, coaches,
referees, field maintenance people) is a parent or youth volunteer. Please consider donating your time to volunteer and help out the
league. Even if you have no knowledge of soccer, we can use your help. Let us know at registration if you'd like to contribute, or
talk to any of the contacts in the links above for further information. Here's some opportunities for you to help out:
-
Coaches
- Assistant coaches
- Referees
- Assistant referees
- Team parents
- Water jug fillers on game days
-
Age division coordinators
- Coach administrator
- Field set up and upkeep
Fall 2009 season registration dates will be July 18, August 1, and August 8. Please come out between 10am and 2pm and get
your players signed up for the next season.
Thanks to all Coaches and Referees who volunteered their time this past Spring
season. If you're a parent who enjoys watching their child have a good time playing in our soccer league, please consider volunteering
to come out and help us with coaching, refereeing, or any of a hundred other things that it takes to run a sports league.
VOLUNTEER REFEREES NEEDED!!!
AYSO Killen is critically short on volunteers right now. The current roster of parents and young adults that are willing to donate
their time for refereeing Saturday games is so short that many of us have to ref several games, in addition to our regular coaching
duties. Please consider donating an extra hour before or after your child's game to referee or assistant referee a game.
A one day
class is all that is required to become qualified as an AYSO referee. Not to worry, even if you haven't even played before, many of
our referees are first timers as well. The training class will cover all the rules, and we'll have a practice game after training
class so that everyone can give it a try in a real refereeing environment. After that, you can assistant referee and work with a mentor
referee until you are comfortable enough to call a game on your own.
This is an excellent opportunity to learn about the sport your
child is playing and to give back to your community. We all need to chip in to ensure our children have a safe and fair environment
in which to play and have fun.
Please contact the Referee Administrator (Shalane Hiett - contact info on the contacts page) if
you are interested in volunteering your time!
